When I think of the poppy, it's not just about remembrance. It's also about its beauty and frailness, reminding us how quickly life can pass with those delicate petals that can easily be swept away. But, despite its fragile appearance, you’ll often find vibrant red poppies in the most unexpected places—growing not just in meadows but even in the most barren landscapes. In the Cyprus mountains, they feel just as at home as they do in the English hedgerows. As a wildflower artist, the poppy has always had a special place in my paintings.
 
In Moonlit Poppies, the indigo and bright red blend beautifully together. I chose to steer clear of traditional greens for the grass and instead used Raw Umber, flowing through the indigo, with touches of titanium white mixed with a subtle dash of indigo for the moonlit blades of grass and the moon itself.
